Drake One Fifty Cinco de Mayo Pop-Up

On Monday May 5, Drake One Fifty will welcome guest chef Donnie Masterton of critically acclaimed foodie favourite, The Restaurant, in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, who has created a menu of Mexican inspired dishes for Cinco de Mayo.

The James Beard award winner changed the culinary landscape of artists’ colony and ex-pat haven San Miguel de Allende, voted by Condé Nast Traveler as the top city in the world in 2013, when he brought global comfort food to the quaint mountain town northwest of Mexico City. Masterton’s The Restaurant has been called "the original fine dining restaurant in San Miguel that changed the culture of locavorism and set the town on a new path" (Food Republic) and "arguably the best eatery in (San Miguel)" (The Daily Beast).

Before his move to Mexico, Masterton apprenticed under legendary New York Chef David Bouley at New York’s Montrachet, and was subsequently mentored by renowned American Chef Patrick Clark at restaurants in Beverly Hills, D.C., and New York.

For this special, one night only Cinco de Mayo pop-up at Drake One Fifty, Masterton has collaborated with Exec Chef Ted Corrado on a mouth-watering menu of modern interpretations of classical Mexican dishes, such as pepper crusted tuna tostadas with avocado, crisp leeks and chipotle crema, "pork carntitas" salad with lime, serrano chili, red onion, cilantro and cashews, coffee and ancho chili braised beef short ribs with triple cheese and poblano chile gratin, caramelized shallots and cumin glazed baby carrots, to name just a few features.

With tequila cocktail pairings and a DJ spinning Latin grooves, this Cinco de Mayo event is one you won't want to miss.
