DEGRASSI: SCHOOL'S OUT 25TH ANNIVERSARY

With PAT MASTROIANNI (Joey Jeremiah) & STACIE MISTYSYN (Caitlin Ryan) from the original series in attendance!

Believe it or not, it’s been 25 years since the iconic, generation-shaping original Degrassi series came to a stunning finale with School’s Out!, one of the most watched Canadian TV movies ever made and definitely one of the most unforgettable down endings. Notorious for the shocking outcomes of the characters’ lives, and for featuring the first use of the “F” word on Canadian broadcast TV – The Royal is overjoyed to celebrate the 25th anniversary of School’s Out! In style with original cast members Pat Mastroianni (Joey Jeremiah) & Stacie Mistysyn (Caitlin Ryan) in attendance!

For anyone who didn’t grow up in Canada: The Kids of Degrassi Street begat Degrassi Junior High which begat Degrassi High, following the same cast growing up before our eyes. The shows broke new ground by featuring actual teenaged actors and real-life issues with long-term consequences. Through six seasons, the cast faced abortion, drugs, pregnancy, racism, suicide, and STDs, but also dating woes, generational conflicts, bullies, crushes, rock concerts, sleepovers, and The Zit Remedies. Finally they graduated, and the show sent them off with this 1992 TV movie that begins with a big start of summer party, but eventually spirals way, way out of control…

“You were f***ing Tessa Campanelli?” is only the beginning. A masterpiece!
