SCHEDULE
7:00 - Doors open
Grab a drink, settle in, and watch select works of flora and fauna inspired digital art from Toronto-based Moonwalker Studio. Creating art for international clients including Ritz Carlton and LG, Moonwalker blends imaginative worlds with botanical forms, wild landscapes, and animal life.
7:30 - VR in Modern Medicine (Sunny Atwal @ Luminopia)
What if a kid's favourite cartoon could fix their eyesight? Sunny will share the story behind Luminopia, an FDA-cleared VR therapy that treats lazy eye (amblyopia) using popular kids' shows like SpongeBob and Pokémon. You'll see how technology made to entertain can be used to heal, what the evidence says, and where software is taking medicine next.
8:00 - Faster, Cheaper, Better? Where the Human Fits in Generative Art (Vy Vo @ Moonwalker)
Vy, co-founder of Moonwalker, pushes back on what generative creative tools are selling: faster, cheaper, better. Using examples from her studio's AI-generated botanical art, Vy shows the necessity of human discernment, including rejecting, redirecting, or rebuilding what the machine gives us.
8:30 - The Mediums that Shape Us and How We Must Shape AI (Valentin Tsatskin)
Join Valentin on a journey through time and thought, exploring how human communication has evolved and what past mediums can teach us about designing humane AI interactions that serve people, not machines. Drawing on economic, sociological, and psychological theories, as well as his personal experiences, he examines the forces shaping the nature of art, work, and society today.
9:00 - Mingling, networking
Meet cool people and vibe.
