Concert JAZZ MANOUCHE: FROM PARIS TO TORONTO

Roberto Rosenman brings the rich sounds of 1930's Jazz to North America, making a few musical stop-overs along the way. Make sure to be at Alliance française de Toronto on Saturday, January 23, 2016 for this concert !

The Roberto Rosenman Quartet plays a modern variant of French gypsy jazz, a style of music originating in 1930’s Paris with famed gypsy guitarist Django Reinhardt and the Hot Club of France. Guitarist and composer Roberto Rosenman began as a classical guitarist but turned to jazz after discovering the music of Django. He studied gypsy jazz in Paris and makes the yearly pilgrimage to The Festival Django Reinhardt in Samois-Sur-Seine- the largest gypsy jazz Festival of its kind. Over the years, he has performed throughout Europe, Mexico and the USA. For his last album “Upstream”, Roberto teamed up with vocalist Barbra Lica and poet/lyricist Jack Mitchell who penned lyrics to three compositions. Far from a traditional gypsy jazz ensemble, the Roberto Rosenman Quartet proves itself a versatile modern jazz group, with a unique acoustic sound that fuses gypsy jazz with modern jazz influences from Bebop to Bossa Nova.
