HackLab.TO (http://hacklab.to/) and MOOG Audio are super excited to present Clara Venice (http://www.claravenice.com/) for a theremin workshop and musical performance on May 14th.

The theremin workshop runs from 5-7 pm. Registered participants are invited to the lab for a two-hour theremin workshop covering the history of the theremin, and how to play it. After the presentation, several theremins will be on hand for participants to try, care of our friends at MOOG Audio!

The workshop will be followed by a live one-hour performance by Clara Venice at the Hacklab! This performance is all ages and open to the public.

ABOUT CLARA:

Canada's "Theremin prodigy" Clara Venice composes ethereal futurepop, with whimsical narratives about spacey love connections. Her new Electric Dream (October 2015) includes four new songs featuring seventy- two instruments used to create this high fantasy, modern fairytale. Her debut EP Love Riddle was co-produced by Kevin Hearn (Barenaked Ladies, Lou Reed, Rheostatics) and mixed by Dave Ogilvie (Nine Inch Nails, Skinny Puppy, Carly Rae Jepsen).

Clara is known for performing with an array of instruments including Theremin, Moog’s newest instrument: the Theremini, electric violin, guitar, keyboards, ukulele and glockenspiel. Her mesmerizing visual style transforms from 21st century pop princess to Harajuku spacegirl as she draws listeners into her playful and melodic dreamworld.

Clara Venice has performed around the world, joined the Barenaked Ladies on their 2014 Cross-Canada tour, and has been showcased at Kazoo Fest, the Music Festival of Beja, The One Man Band Festival, Just for Cats Festival, Word on the Street, NXNE, Spur Festival, IngenuityFest, and Beakerhead.
