Canstruction Toronto 2015

Please join us May 5 – 9, 2015 for the 16th annual Canstruction® design and build competition at the Toronto-Dominion Centre in downtown Toronto. This year, 20 teams of architects, engineers, designers and students will design and build ‘CANstructures’, structures made entirely from canned foods within a 10’x10’x8’ space.

Scenes of Toronto's skyline, favourite cartoon characters, portraits of famous celebrities and more are recreated as impressive (and edible) ‘CANstructures’. On May 4, 2015 the teams build through the night, competing for titles such as "Best Use of Labels", "Best Meal" and "Structural ingenuity", to raise awareness about Toronto's growing hunger gap.

Canstruction® is a non-profit competition that decreases hunger and fights poverty in Toronto and cities around the world. At the end of the week, the structures are deCANstructed and all of the cans are donated to the Daily Bread Food Bank, Toronto’s largest community food bank. In this city alone, more than 800,000 client visits happen each year, approximately 32 percent of them children, use food-relief programs.

With one can of food as a catalyst for change, One Can® to represent the building block of change, Canstruction proves that small acts of kindness improve the lives of people in need. Since 1992, Canstruction has contributed more than 17.5 million pounds of food to food programs around the world, demonstrating that we can win the fight against hunger.

Canstruction® is free and no ticket is required.
