Bug Bites @ EcoFest!

Come eat a bug! No, seriously!

We are a new group at UofT called "Bug Bites" and our goal and purpose in life is to normalize entomophagy, or, the consumption of insects.

Now, that may sound kinda gross but hear us out while we tell you a bit about why it's worth doing:

Simply put, insects are incredibly healthy for you and are high in protein, iron and zinc. Even more than traditional livestock! pigs, cows, chickens. Oh my! They are also really environmentally friendly since they require very few resources to maintain and reproduce at a significantly faster rate than other livestock.

So there are some obvious benefits to eating insects; however, we are aware that you may still be reluctant to give them a try, which is fair.

When sushi was first introduced to Western cultures, people were actually just as averse to it. The idea of eating raw fish didn't sit well with them and most people found it gross. BUT when it was reintroduced as the California Roll and the raw fish was no longer emphasized but was instead used as just another ingredient in the dish, were people able to palate it. So we're going to do the same thing!

We will be handing out FREE brownies and cookies made with cricket flour. You'd actually be surprised by how indistinguishable they are from non-bug brownies. Seriously, they're good.

So come on by, take our free food and maybe join our bug-munchin' family! If you have any questions, please feel free to PM us!
