Blue Coffee Reading Series: 2nd Anniversary!

Join us on MONDAY, JUNE 15TH at 8PM for a double dose of stories and poems in honour of Blue Coffee's 2nd year anniversary. Hosted by Leigh Beadon.

We want to thank everyone who has been a part of our series. Your support has made all the difference. We will have cupcakes, drink specials and prizes!

We are featuring SIX WRITERS who have performed at Blue Coffee in the past. Set times are shorter than usual -- so be prepared to hear the finest work from the following:

BANOO ZAN is a poet, translator, teacher, editor and poetry organizer who has been writing poetry since the age of ten and has published more than 80 poems, translations, biographies, and articles. Two books of her poetry are due to be released in 2015 and 2016. She is the founder, and an organizer and host of Shab-e She’r (Poetry Night), the most diverse of its kind in Toronto.(https://www.facebook.com/groups/poetry.gallery.toronto)

JC BOUCHARD was born in Elliot Lake, a former mining town in northern Ontario. His poetry appears in various publications including Arc, In/Words, (parenthetical), The Quilliad, and Rappahannock Review. In 2013, one of his poems was long-listed for the CBC Poetry Prize and another received Honourable Mention for the John Newlove Poetry Award from Bywords. He is the author of two chapbooks: “Portraits” (In/Words Press) in 2014, and “Wool Water” (Words(on)Pages), forthcoming in the fall.(www.jcbouchard.com)

LIISA LADOUCEUR writes about music and culture, and is the author of two books, Encyclopedia Gothica (2011, ECW Press) and How to Kill a Vampire: Fangs in Folklore, Film and Fiction (2013, ECW Press). She regularly appears on radio and television to talk about music and the arts. Like all good goth girls, she writes poems, and has performed spoken word across North America. NICHOLAS POWER is a founding member of the Meet the Presses literary collective, and has performed with the storytelling duo The Wordweavers and the sound poetry ensemble Alexander’s Dark Band. He works as a therapist in private practice. He has been published by Teksteditions (Melancholy Scientist), Underwhich Editions (wells), The Writing Space (a modest device), and Battered Press (No Poems). NIKI KOULOURIS was born in Melbourne, Australia. Her poetry and prose has appeared in The Cortland Review, Space, Metro Magazine, Subtext Magazine and The Age. A beer enthusiast, she has been known to start spontaneous lists on napkins of her top India Pale Ales. Niki lives in Toronto. Shortlisted for the 2014 Wesley Michel Wright Prize and the ReLit Award, The sea with no one in it (The Porcupine's Quill) is her first book.(http://nikikoulouris.ca/)
