Baracoa - Presented by the ICFF Festival at the Distillery District

Three lives. One journey. And a legacy that refuses to stay buried.

Join ICFF for a special screening of Baracoa, a moving drama that explores love, loss, and the search for connection across generations and cultures.

Felipe, an aging Italian revolutionary living in Havana, spends his final days reflecting on a Cuba that has drifted far from the ideals he once fought to build. Meanwhile, his son Pepe dreams of leaving the island behind and starting a new life in Canada, far from his father's world. When Felipe passes away, Pepe is stunned to discover that his father has entrusted both his ashes and a share of the family estate to Jimmi, Felipe’s devoted doctor, who secretly performs as the drag artist Estrellita.

Forced together by Felipe’s final wishes, Pepe and Jimmi embark on a journey across Cuba to carry out his last request. What begins as a reluctant partnership soon becomes an emotional road trip filled with unexpected discoveries, difficult conversations, and moments of profound understanding.

Set against the vibrant landscapes of Cuba, Baracoa is a heartfelt story about reconciliation, chosen family, and finding common ground in the most unlikely places. Through humour, and unforgettable performances, the film celebrates the transformative power of empathy and human connection.

Don’t miss this powerful cinematic journey that bridges generations, identities, and borders while exploring what it truly means to come home.
