The term “emerging artist" while employed often across the arts, presents a complex and restrictive categorization for individuals embarking on a career as a creative producer. Now more than ever the process of emergence is convoluted. An evolving art environment has presented unique challenges to artists. From economic precariousness to political instability, establishing oneself as an influential contributor to the art world is increasingly difficult.

'Are We There Yet?' explores this precarious space of “emergence” in the arts through works from artists that are each at a certain stage in their careers where their artistic potential is abundant despite facing a uniquely precarious contemporary art environment.
