Ah W.I. Ting blends Caribbean jazz with choreography inspired by Tobago’s Tambrin music. Caribbean jazz, rooted in Afro-Caribbean folk traditions and dance, has had a significant yet often overlooked impact on the broader jazz scene, particularly in the U.S. Unlike American jazz, Ah W.I. Ting focuses on Caribbean dance, incorporating contemporary elements while highlighting the extempo rhythm and time signatures of calypso and soca music.
