AFA Presents: A Fundraising Screening of TRIUMPH

The Albanian Film Association Presents: A Fundraising Screening of TRIUMPH!

Do you remember where you were when the Albanian national soccer team faced Serbia in the Euro Cup qualifiers? Do massive drones and even bigger flags ring a bell? TRIUMPH documents the entire event with never before seen behind the scenes access. Come see what made audiences select TRIUMPH as the Audience Award winner for a feature documentary at DokuFest Documentary Film Festival in 2018.

To help us raise funds for our ongoing film screening activities, we’re happy to announce that we’ve partnered up with Albanian-owned Crafty Coyote to screen the wonderful feature-length documentary TRIUMPH by Luftar Von Rama, Kreshnik Jonuzi, and Charlie Askew.

Full synopsis: On October 14, 2014 the two Eastern European countries of Albania and Serbia faced off on the soccer field in the Serbian capital of Belgrade. With Albanian fans not permitted to attend the game due to purported safety concerns, the stadium full of Serbian fans echoed racist chants and death threats. Tensions rose to a boil when a drone carrying an Albanian flag flew above the players and onto the pitch. Angered fans rushed the field, attacking the Albanian players, forcing the match to end. A history of political tensions, war and genocide is explored as we follow the journey of the Albanian National Team to their first EURO cup appearance.

Tickets to attend cost $10 and can be purchased via our EventBrite page. The film is 1h 28min long and is in Albanian, English, Italian and subtitled in English. Back by popular demand we will be selling our “C’kemi” Marubi magnets for whatever price you wish to pay us!

The Crafty Coyote will have food and drink specials on offer - a special thanks to them for offering us the space. And a special shout out to Luftar Von Rama who was gracious enough to give us permission to show his film.

Shihemi se shpejti!
