A STRANGE BEAUTY

An exhibit of botanical drawings, mixed media interactive works, and wallpaper designs by Swiss-Belgian artist Sève Favre. Curated by Jo Minhinnett. A participating project of DesignTO Festival 2026.

In these new works, artist Sève Favre weaves together the histories of plant collecting, European imperialism, and decorative design through the lens of invasive species. Her drawings evoke alien-like plant forms that hybridize with intelligence and precision—alluring to the gaze yet unsettling in their spread. Since many plants now deemed invasive were once prized and deliberately cultivated, "A Strange Beauty" reflects our shifting fascination with the natural world, flowing from past floral obsessions in interior design to imagined future ecologies where foreign blooms again capture our attention and desire.

Join the artist at the reception on Saturday, January 24 from 1-4pm. Artist talk begins at 1pm.

Gallery Hours: Monday Closed, Tuesday–Friday 10am–6pm, Saturday 11am–5pm, Sunday 12pm–4pm
