14th Annual New Orleans Stomp

Featuring Gregg Stafford – direct from New Orleans!

Celebrated band leader and recording artist Gregg Stafford is returning to Toronto for the annual “New Orleans Stomp” traditional jazz show.

First started as a gesture of support for musicians facing hardship caused by Hurricane Katrina, the “Stomp” has become a widely anticipated event gracing jazz venues across Toronto. This year’s ‘Stomp’ will take place at Grossman’s Tavern – Toronto’s Home of the Blues - on May 31st for two exciting shows at 6 pm and 10 pm.

With his deep-rooted connection to the vibrant jazz scenes of New Orleans and Toronto, Greg's musical journey epitomizes the fusion of cultures and the power of music to transcend boundaries. While Greg's roots lie in New Orleans, including regular performances at the historical Preservation Hall, his influence is deeply felt in Toronto where he has spent significant time collaborating with local musicians and enriching the city's cultural tapestry. Beyond performances, Stafford's ties to Toronto encompass outreach programs and mentorship initiatives aimed at nurturing a new generation of jazz musicians and educators.

This year, Gregg will be accompanied by many of Toronto’s top-notch musicians: Charlotte McAfee-Brunner, trombone; Toby Hughes, alto sax; Roberta Hunt, piano; Brian Sasaki, banjo; Colin Bray, bass; Chuck Clarke, drums. And expect surprise musical guests!
