McDonald's restaurant in Ontario changes its name to McDavid's

Here's the golden goal you've been waiting for — McDonald's is now McDavid's!

The fast food giant has officially rebranded two of its locations in Canada, including one in Newmarket, to "McDavid's" in honour of Connor McDavid's heart-stopping overtime goal that led Team Canada to victory at the 4 Nations Face-off last month.

In a tweet last summer, McDonald's Canada made a bold promise to the Edmonton Oilers captain during the team's Stanley Cup playoff run, writing, "ok @cmcdavid97 how about this… if you bring the cup back to Canada we'll turn an Edmonton McD's into a McDavid's. Deal?"

Although the Oilers didn't win the Stanley Cup that year, McDavid's clutch overtime goal for Team Canada sealed the deal, and McDonald's kept their word.

In an update to their original tweet, McDonald's Canada revealed that the two rebranded locations would be opening very soon.

On Friday, the one-week rebrands officially opened up at a McDonald's in Newmarket where McDavid grew up, and another location in Edmonton (where the Oilers are based, of course).

In addition to all the updated signage, fans in Newmarket were treated to a special promotion where small orders of fries were just $0.97 in honour of McDavid's jersey number from Friday to Sunday.

Back in January, McDonald's launched its NHL-themed promotion, with the Big Mac-David burger and Auston Matthew's Smoky Quarter Papi. The Big Mac-David burger is set to remain on the menu for a limited time.

Whether you're celebrating McDavid's victory or just craving some crispy fries, you can visit McDonald's — I mean, McDavid's, at 1100 Davis Drive in Newmarket.
