Toronto gets two new downtown ribfests this summer

Summertime is festival season in Toronto, and amongst the various music and food-related spectacles, what would it be without a few weekend-long events dedicated to barbecued ribs?

And this year, you won't have to wait until the Ex arrives to indulge downtown. Instead, we'll be getting two new ribfests, much to the chagrin of your vegetarian friends.

Northern Heat Rib Series is adding two new festivals to its Ontario-wide summer lineup. First up is the Rib Fest & BBQ Bash happening on May 20 and 21 at Yonge-Dundas Square.

Later, on July 23 and 24, the event company will debut the Lake Shore Rib Fest at Fort York: Garrison Common.

Both events will be free to attend, though you'll have to pay to sample (and stuff your face) with ribs.
