On first glance, the Mascot is a bit confusing. It's a cafe, but there isn't a lot of seating, and half of it functions as a gallery space. The furniture is antique, but it's great to kick back on it. And the graffiti on the wall is actually woodworking by local artist Kwest. But, once I settle into the casual vibe of the place, I realize that all this actually makes a good deal of sense. And besides, the things that matter aren't confusing in the slightest: the espresso's just right and there are copies of the latest Monocle to keep me distracted.
