Not Just Another Gallery on Dundas West

After visiting a string of galleries with niche mandates, it was refreshing to drop by Alison Smith Gallery on Dundas West the other day. With contemporary fine art in general as its focus, my conversation with Smith didn't dwell on the specifics of the mandate. Instead it meandered about, covering a wide range of topics from the nature of both literary and artistic canonicity to the air of intimidation that surrounds private galleries. One of the more aesthetically pleasing spaces I've visited, this is a gallery defined by both polish and professionalism.

See my profile of Alison Smith Gallery in the galleries section.
