open call for photo essays

Open Call for Flickr Photo Essays

Have you ever taken a day trip and documented it visually with a camera? Have you ever had a mini-photo-project in mind, but never gotten around to it? Got a thing for sewer covers, skyscrapers, fruit markets, rust, the suburbs, smiles, niches in culture, lesser-known events, etc? Do you already have a themed Flickr set that you'd like to show to the rapidly growing blogTO readership?

The blogTO Flickr group is now an impressive 1200 1617 strong, and is most certainly an integral part of the interactive nature of blogTO.

That said, we're looking to the future and want to offer members an opportunity to have their fabulous photographs featured in all their glory on the pages of blogTO.

We're continuing our open call for...PHOTO ESSAYS! Continue reading for details and submission information.

What we're looking for:
- photo essays can be made up of as few as 5 photos
- essay topics have no limits other than that they be related to Toronto and surrounding areas (we're all about keeping it local!)
- photo essays rely mostly on the images, but a short description (less than 100 words )should be included to set the stage
- this is an open call, so there are no deadlines
- we'll feature the best as they come in (submissions will be reviewed and published by the blogTO editorial team)

How to submit:
- create a Flickr set for your essay
- submit it to us using the contribute page
- please include:
1) your essay title
2) your short description (100 words or less)
3) the URL of your essay set on Flickr

This is an opportunity for the blogTO readers that are also creative and talented photographers to challenge themselves in the area of themed photo essays, and share their work with the readership (including the non-shutterbugs that don't use Flickr).

blogTO looks forward to the opportunity to feature your photo essays!

We'll continue to feature a photo every weekday in the Morning Brew, and we'll continue to run our weekly themed Flickr Forum series. :)
