Boubah's Pet Store

Posted by Staff / Posted on October 26, 2012

Boubahs TorontoBoubah's, at St. Clair and Oakwood, is a one-stop shop with gear for dogs and cats, fish and reptiles, birds, and small animals. Beyond the food, toys, and other basics, Boubah's operates an in-store adoption centre for found kittens and litters of accidental pups. A neighbourhood hub, and not just for the kittens.

When we first got our dog, we frequented BouBah's pet store on a regular basis as we wanted to support the local businesses in our neighbourhood on St.Clair. They have a great staff and a wide selection of pet products and pets like kittens and fishes that you can buy. The store is clean and the as I mentioned the employees are friendly, knowledgable and professional. My only complaint is that I will never bring my dog to be groomed here again. Every single time I have asked for a particular hair cut one that doesn't leave my dog without any fur but a trim I pick up my dog cut in a style i did not ask for. His nails were never cut and I also noticed my dog had cut marks on him which I understand likely came from the scissors but I would have appreciated the groomer telling me that. Other than that I will still shop here for food, toys and treats but will groom my dog myself.

I went to Boubah's at the recommendation of this list. It is near my home so it was easy to get to. I would not recommend this store to anyone. It is small, carries a little of everything but the majority of the products are covered in dust. I felt grossed out and the 5 frightened kittens in a cage a the front didn't seem so happy either. The kittens were right beside the busy door (to garner attention I'm sure) but the noise, cold weather and commotion didn't seem to agree with them. They all looked healthy but when approached, the recoiled. I applaud the effort of trying to get them homes but it could be done in a more humane, effective way.
This place could do with a bit more TLC and a face lift.

I reccomend this store to everyone that owns a pet. boubahs has an amazing selection for all different pets. the negativeity from nancy is completetly unfounded and quite frankly and uneducated opinion. firust off, how big do you expect a mom & pop pet shop to be? Second, no offence nancy but you obviously have never brought home a kitten because they are by nature timid toward those that smell unfamiliar. Third, in the sping and summer as long as the temerature is above 4-5 degress it would acually be ideal for cats ( duh they wear a winter coat year-round and have no sweat glands...n hellooo? ). Lastly, boubahs, as i have noticed, very much focuses on wholistic diets for pets, none of which have had dust on them as i pass through.. EVERY WEEK. it is very unfair to make this assertion because the building that they are located in is around 100 years old. dust accumulates on an almost hourly basis. i know because the basement apt i rent is over 100 years old and is the same. Ultimately i believe nancy and anyone else going on these blog sites such as yelp are know nothing "know-it-alls" giving an opinion outside that of thier own education level and/or understanding. oh and just in case nancy does see this: "a big sarcastic thank you to you and others like you who have convinced boubahs to stop the FREE public service that they were providing to corso italia, which is adopting out cats that will now probably wind up on the streets or humane society or die because you idiots feel like you know more about pets then a pet store owner

I do not recommend this place at all wen it comes about grooming. I took my puppy Yorkshire for his first time grooming his hair was a bit too long, I told them
I did not want them to cut it too short. We'll they should know that each dog has a different cut depending on what type dog you have. Well once I get there to pick up my little puppy they completely SHAVED my dog. All his hair was gone. I was completely disappointed and when I told them that it was waaaay to short they said "oh no it's not looks cute" you kidding me?! So I left there pretty much pisses and upset. When I get into my car I put him on lap I notice that my jeans were dirty so when I took a look at it THEY CUTED HIS NAIL WAY TOO SHORT THAT WAS BLEEDING. I know accident happens but they could of told
Me that one of his nails were bleeding. I'm pretty much disappointed at them and I do br recommend at all so none of you feel what I felt for my poor little puppy.
