Waterfalls Indian Tapas

Posted by Staff / Listed on July 15, 2008 / review policy

Waterfalls Indian TapasWaterfalls has stuck to its chef's roots and re-branded itself as Indian Tapas. It might be a tough sell with popular tapas-ish spots Supermarket and Torito across the street, but what Waterfalls lacks in atmosphere it manages to balance out with flavourful, Indian spicing.

i went there with my friends a few weeks ago.
obviously they are not traditional authentic indian restaurant but so many variety of menu.
we had calamari(indian style with yummy mint sauce), veg samosa, tandori chicken fettucine(combination of curry cream sauce and pasta was suprisingly a great match!), freshly made naan bread was awsome and butter chicken to share with.
i am definately going back there again!!!

Vegetarians beware! We ordered saag paneer and got saag chicken. Not cool. I almost barfed right on their patio.

I went to Waterfalls on a GroupOn. I have never walked away from a restaurant more upset before. After waiting in the doorway for 10 minutes, we seated ourselves, because none of the staff even looked at us. Keep in mind, I had also made a reservation for this night. After 15 minutes of sitting at a table with servers walking by us to attend to neighbouring tables, I finally asked one if we were ever going to see a menu. By the time we received our appetizer, we had already been in the restaurant for an hour, which is unacceptable. Our entrees took forever and weren't all that great. We had such an awful experience by this point we took the food to go. Had this been any other restaurant, I would have left much earlier, but I had already given them my money.

I went to Waterfalls for lunch last week with my friend.
I had grilled veg wrap and my friend had Curried Lamb wrap. They come with either green salad(with mango dressing.yum) or home cut fries. It was really good and very resonable price too. We also had sangria it was perfect warm afternoon.

Before you start trashing such a great restaurant, get your facts straight first. They didn't even get a fail.

Why is this review so short? What did you have to eat? What was the service like? Was the pricing reasonable? How does the fusion food thing work? The answers to these are what I was looking for...

I have been to quite a few Indian Restaurants in Toronto and this is the absolute worst I have EVER been to. The design of this restaurant looks like they are in mid renovations.... but they aren't. No authenticity at all. The servers are very self absorbed and ignored myself and my girlfriend waiting to be seated. After a few minutes of awkward waiting, we decided that we should make a move towards the bar where all the servers were chatting. We sat down at the bar and were still ignored! We had to ask for menus and then after 20 minutes of sitting with our menus closed, we had to ask if we could finally place our orders. Keep in mind that there were FOUR servers and TWO tables occupied while this was happening, so being busy was not even a valid excuse. (Side note: while we were being ignored, we watched a server make a drink and then pick something out of it with her hands and then serve it to the table... GROSS!!) It honestly felt like the only way we would ever get things going was if we went back to the kitchen and cooked the food ourselves! It took another 30 minutes for our food to arrive which makes sense considering they only had 1 person in the kitchen... I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala with Naan and my girlfriend ordered Paneer Tikka Masala with Basmati Rice. To add on to the already terrible experience, the food was TERRIBLE!!! It was such a weak attempt at Tikka Masala!! The chicken tasted as if it was boiled and mixed in with a bland tomato sauce and way too many red, green and yellow peppers, I could have googled a better recipe.... I refuse to even call the bread they served Naan considering it was a dry gross pita and NOT Naan. Overall, I would never go back to this restaurant EVER AGAIN!
