Where to begin? Let's get it straight from the top. Marc Thuet's food is spectacular. Howver, the service is horrific. The white wine I ordered to pair with my Seared fois gras appetizer arrived at least 10 mins before the plate and resulted in a luke warm glass of Muscat rather than the crisp sweet beverage I was anticipating. the main course arrived and the bottle of red wine we ordered was no where in site!! Neither was our waiter. We were half way through thte main when we fianlly got the bottle from another waiter and we asked to keep it at our table so we could pour ourselves another glass when we liked instead of performing the SkyDome wave in order to get noticed. For a 400.00 dollar night out, I didn't what I thought I would feel after being treated to a night out at a renown restaurant. When you are looking to pay approximately $200 dollars a person, for a 3 course dinner, I better not be looking for cutlery as my main course sits and waits for me...and my waiter.
Thuet Bistro is the most over-priced, over-hyped restaurant in the city, perhaps the country. I wish I could type positve comments about my experience, as I am rarely the type to "put down" or talk "negatively" about anything. 1) The worst service I've ever had. 2) The waiter seemed arrogant and somewhat "dirty" (it put me off my meal actually). 3) Another waiter splashed wine on my wife's sweater as he poured it. 4) The food was "average", cold and definitely over priced. 5) When we politely complained about our dissapointing dinner, we were essentially ignored. I would recommend to NEVER EAT THERE!
We were very excited to go to Thuet, but we were extremely disappointed with the quality of food and service. For a bill of 450 for two people we should have received 5 star service. It took 20 minutes to get cocktails and the white wine I drank with dinner was luke warm.
The food was not much better: A bloody slab of meat of Flinstonian proportions that passes for a Triple A Striploin with a side of Soggy, parmesan laden french fries mascarading as frites. The black cod and lobster was barely warm and fishy.
We love going out to nice restaurants and will gladly pay premium prices for superior food and service, but at Thuet we left feeling like we had been had.
