The Roy Public House

The RoyThe Roy is a traditional pub that recently opened in Leslieville. The surroundings are pretty basic (but cozy) and attract locals for their pub grub and excellent selection of beers on tap.

The Roy is by far the best place to eat on the Queen St E between Logan and Larchmount.

The atmosphere and decor is lovely, the premises very clean, the staff friendly, service is prompt. And the food is delicious. The burgers are their best dish, huge portions and very flavourful. The salads are always fresh and the wraps are delicious.

A couple things they could improve on: too much dressing on the caesar, bangers and mash too salty and a bit bland, and my pet peeve: the batter for the fish and chips.

Despite these things I keep coming back to the Roy, and I would recommend them to anyone.

It's laborious to search out knowledgeable folks on this matter, but you sound like you realize what you're speaking about! Thanks

The Roy is one the most authenic pubs I've been to in Toronto.
The servers don't wear pleated skirts and the menu isn't a book of 100 items like the fake pubs. There is thankfully no Gaelic sayings (that no one understands anyway)that mock pubs use to claim authenticity. Great pub vibe with service to match. Rowe Farms meats make their burger a standout

So glad to see The Roy on this list. It is a great place to meet friends, actually have a conversation that you don't have to scream over loud music AND have a teriffic meal. It is the real deal...civilized, comfortable and friendly, great selection of beers and food that is just plain delicious. I don't think there could be a "one" timer at The Roy. You go're going back...lots.
