Remarks Bar and Grill

Remarks Bar and GrillRemarks Bar and Grill has an awesome raised patio, surely perfect for its weekend brunch (when kids' pancakes are free!). The interior is surprisingly sprawling with lots of dark booths and wooden tables. Live entertainment is rare, the bartender tells me, but it does happen. Eight-dollar lunch specials, on the other hand, are every day.

Live Jazz on Mondays, awesome specials and an amazing kitchen keep me coming back here. Best local secret around and the best wings I have ever had in Toronto. Service is great and did I mention the food is AMAZING?

My husband and I had a romantic dinner here last night. It was 7:00 and the place was practically empty, but better for us as we prefer a quiet place. The music was 70's rock but not too loud.
I had the lamb curry and my husband had stuffed chicken. Both were presented very nicely and the flavour! It was so good that we will be back again, maybe next time with the kids.
The service was pretty good although when I asked for a side of raita, I didn't expect to get another full serving of the cole slaw (which I declined and didn't have to pay for). Half pint of Alexander Keith's was on special for $3.50 and the appetisers were $5 until 7:00 (we made it just under the wire).
I would have liked to try the prime rib which was the special of the day for $16. Next time.
Don't let the look of the strip plaza or the hokey tube lights around the patio itself turn you off. You will like it inside!, even if you are by yourself because there is a long bar with tvs. (and ladies...I felt safe there).
Best seat: up near the back in the corner in front of the brick wall. What they really need in that spot would be a fireplace. That would be perfect.

No joke. This is top neighbourhood pub i have been to in ages. unfortunately i do not live in this neighbourhood. It is just so much nicer than any pub-type places in my 'hood..

Have been 3 times. Food is well above par. Beer menu is varied. It is nice inside, not old and grungy. There are tvs to watch a game on but also tables away from them if you want to talk to friends.

The wife approves it too which is quite rare for sub/tavern.
