Phil's Original BBQPhil's Original BBQ is a well-loved BBQ joint near the corner of College and Ossington that serves some of the smokiest, tastiest meat this side of Texas.

The fries are huge and pretty good (not oily, very fluffy) but the chicken sandwich is waaaay too bland.

Used to visit all the time in the early part of this year (2009) however around September the prices skyrocketed and I have not been back. Used to be one of the best values in town, now it's barely average.

Don't get the wrong idea the food is very good but over priced at what they now charge for it.

Haven't been to Phil's in a while due to the terrible service but the pulled pork is by far the best I have ever had. However, the beans are the best part of the meal. They are so unbelievable that they have ruined my bean eating at any other establishment because nothing ever measures up to Phils

I lived next door to Phil's for 5 years. I didn't like their ribs, their beans or anything else I tried there and yes the prices were too high. People would rave about it to me and I just did't see what they saw in the flavour and quality of the food. The frozen ribs I buy at Metro taste better to me...sorry Phil's!

Went here after hearing about it on citytv and was so disappointed. I had lunch there and wanted the pulled pork sandwich. My God the bun was ok size but half of it was empty. NO MEAT. When I showed it to the owner all he said was that is 6 ounces. Lets just say that 6 ounces in baby portions. The taste was very bland. a little smoke flavour but that is it. Like my cousin said to me you make better it better in your weber. Would love to see a place like down south where they are not scared to add meat to the bun even if it cost a little more. Very Very disappointed after all the hype.

Went to phils on friday the service was terrible it took over 15 mintues for the waiter to even acknowledge us. They made us change our seats 3 times sorry but i stopped playing musical chairs in grade school. Then seemed like the food was there TO quickly like it had been sitting there all day and they whipped it in the microwave for a quick warm up and tossed it on the table. Hush puppies were burnt pulled pork was dry and not alot of meat and BBQ sauce was clearly watered down. Then the waiter didnt even come see if we needed more drinks and we waited 30 plus minutes for our bill thanks phils for a terrible night out

I tried this place after reading an article in the paper about how it was the only "real and authentic southern style BBQ" in Toronto. The ribs were terrible.

So far the only good ribs Ive had are at the ribfest when they come into town.

I love ribs so my fiance decided to take me here after seeing it was on the top ten list. Why is this joint on the top 10!? It is by far the worst ribs I have ever had!! We saw the comments once we were here and because it had been a year since anyone posted we thought we would try it anyways....I had to fight with the bone to get the meat off. The ribs were soooo bland....the only flavoring was because of the bbq sauce it was swimming in! Not only were they bland but they were dry. The chicken was cold when we got it, and like the ribs...dry, bland and swimming in bbq sauce. I think they just put the sauce on your meat when it goes on the plate. Even the caesar salad was do you mess up salad!? If you want good ribs....go to a place like Baton'll pay the same price, have better ambiance, and ribs that don't taste like they have been microwaved! ugh...never going here again!

They had their own sauce that you could buy for $5 a bottle. The sauce was awesome. I used it on all my homemade ribs....

Does anyone know of a place that sells sauce like it, or how to get in contact with the previous owners, see if they are willing to still sell their sauce?
