Omi Sushi TorontoOmi Japanese Restaurant in Cabbagetown serves some of the freshest and most innovative sushi in Toronto. On the menu are selections like torched Hokkaido scallop pizza, avocado unagi roll, organic miso soup and fish ice cream.

Went to this place tonight... I have no idea why this place is on this list at all. There was nobody in the resturant at 8:30pm on a sunday night. I figured maybe slurge sushi so we'd figured the chef would do something awesome. Nope, the sushi wasn't fresh, menu was a takeout menu and waitress barely helped with the order. Honestly, the fake sushi at T&T supermarket was better than this.

You don't want to go to Omi for the service, that's for sure - but if you eat there you will know why it's on the list. They make a fantastic sweet potato catfish dish that is to die for, the pan fried dumplings are AMAZING, but best of all is the sushi. I live in the area and I was hooked the first time I tried it. Since then I have eaten there or ordered take-out many times. Only once was the food not up to snuff - every other time it has been phenomenal. They touch each piece of sushi with a little something extra, a touch of ginger or a toasted sesame topping. The result is a delicate dance of flavour that compliments the buttery deliciousness of the fish. The menu is also comprised to environmentally responsible options for fish, so you can enjoy your meal with a clean conscience as well.

The only negative experience I had with the food there was during the renovations, which are now complete. They also used to change their menu frequently because of the seasonal options offered, which is perhaps why the previous commenter got a take-out menu.
