Moe Pancer's

Posted by Staff / Listed on November 21, 2008 / review policy

Moe Pancer'sMoe Pancer's swells with the pride of three generations of meat love. Fierce waves of locals pour in and out with pounds of meat like second nature. Pancer's moved down the street a few years ago and is currently undergoing a change in ownership, but their passion for the art of deli appears unyielding. I've never had pastrami placed before me with such conviction.

Their smoked meat is ok.
Not as fatty as the others, which normally would give it a better taste.
But for an additional $4, you get the combo plate which adds a half pickel, cole slaw, and fries.
Can you give me more than 10 strips of fries.
DO NOT order the combo while dining at this place.
Take out, who knows if they give you more.
Just buy the sandwich only.

After months of soul searching we have decided not to sell our beloved Deli.

I am very glad to hear that, I have been going to Pancer's since before I was born. I love it and think it is the best deli in TO, I still make my way up there for the corn beef sammies and kishka.
Keep up the good work!

Oh, that's such wonderful news that you won't be selling!! I moved out of the area so I'm not there getting take-out as frequently as I used to, but I'm relieved to know that I'll be able to get my beloved roast beef from you when I make the trek to the old 'hood again.

Mediocre portions and high prices make this former "destination deli" a dud.
As with many places, the owner's get greedy and charge crazy prices for inexpensive grub.
Nine bucks for a small piece of Kishka?? C'mon!!
Pancer's is a good example of this.

The best deal in food these days is the grub you prepare yourself at home. You are sure eat fresh, spiced right, fully satisfied, & not feed our nanny feds as well.

Hey Steve

There have been many changes at Moe Pancers Deli.
It is again becoming the " go to deli " in Toronto.
Come and enjoy some of our new offerings as well as some of our tried and true.

Hope to see you there soon.

The sandwiches are very tasty, nice spicy pastrami, the way I like it, albeit a little pricey. Be nice to get a little cole slaw on the side. Some people might find the bluntness of the staff a little overwhelming, buts it's done in fun.

Hey David B

I am glad that you came in and enjoyed your pastrami sandwich.
We have not changed our prices in over a year in order to keep within the price range as our competitors. You can always try 1 of our combos that come with coleslaw, fries & dill.
Next time you come in come and say "hi" it would be a pleasure to meet you.

These guys used to have the best cole slaw around, but no more. It changed a few weeks ago, and now when I order some to go, which I've been doing for quite a while, they get it from the back. I bet it's coming from a large, outsourced container with a supplier's name on it. It's medicore sour shite that you'd get at like, Druxy's or something. So sad... it's the end of an era.

Hey Endo
I thank you for your comments. It is appreciate it. We still make our coleslaw in house as we always have, the same goes for all our salads.
We make almost everything we sell to keep it fresh. Our meats r still made in house corned beef, pastrami, roast beef & beef tongue.
We r always trying to do our best, however unfortunately we cannot please everyone. We do try.

We have been loyal customers of this deli for 30 years but we wont be back. The food is still the same although they definitely could use a lesson on the difference between lean and medium...the biggest difference is the staff. The 6 times I have been in the man at the counter has been rude {although I think he thinks he is being funny} I also question there cleanliness! Man cutting my meat with bare hands then he touched the counter, the scale,a pen....the went back and cut more meat. Took my money and then started to cut meat for someone else....all without washing his hands...just gross...from now on I will make the journey to the new moe location in Richmondhill
