Meggie's
Sitting on the border of Eglinton Village and Y&E, Meggie's All Day Breakfast is busy with executive breakfast meetings during the weekdays and the brunch crowd on the weekends.
UPDATE: MEGGIE'S IS NOW CLOSED
Their meals are reasonably priced, are big servings, includes unlimited coffee or tea, comes with fruit and of course are, very, very tasty. Not very many places offer all of that for one price.
We enter the door and pick up a few of the day's papers sitting on the table by the door. The place is not too busy at nine in the morning so the owners tell us to choose the table of choice. After seating ourselves, we are quickly offered coffee. This fast service is welcomed, especially when this cup of java is the first of the day.

This visit, I am trying their Eggs Benedict ($10.45) - three medium poached eggs (I don't like them runny) with very flavourful ham on a toasted English muffin. The hollandaise sauce served is served on the side, as I suspect people don't want it going on Meggie's signature garlic fries. I sure don't. Thin slices of pineapple, cantaloupe and orange finish off the meal. Unfortunately, they are not ripe...I don't finish the healthiest part of my meal.
The eggs benny is a big enough meal that I don't eat until supper. Actually, every time I eat here, I can usually count on not having lunch that day.
Mark has the veggie omelet ($8.45) - three eggs with peppers, onions, mushrooms and cheese. He is not disappointed.
PS. Weekends are really busy so try and get there before 11.

Nothing makes me happier than an all day lunch. I'm going to have to check out Meggies.
Ooops, I meant all day breakfast. I skipped it this morning, so you can see my mind is already on the next meal. =)
THE GARLIC FRIES THERE ARE AMAZING@#@#!#!
hunka hunka garlic clove.
mmm.
it's right near my place too. wee!
This is a BAD place! Ate here today (Sat. morning). Place was busy/understaffed. Poorly decorated which I would not mention if the food was even CLOSE to acceptable! Looks like an unfinished cottage up north. DUMPY! Everything is broken. Heating grates in ceiling are dangling/dirty. Broken chairs. A few mis-matched convention chairs thrown in. REALLY ugly tableclothes! On the patio we spotted a (beer?) glass with some liquid in it which looked like beer....not even sure if they are licenced but if they are they wont be for long as that is a violation of the "act". They seated my brother and I at the back- downstairs.....barely any heat. My brother went to the washroom. 5 out of 10 on cleanliness! Took 1/2 an hour for bacon and eggs. The food is COVERED in garlic. The potatoes (fries) are COVERED in garlic. The eggs were COVERED in garlic. If you want to burp and fart ALL day then this will be a treat for you. The only thing not covered in garlic was the toast which was barely toasted. No butter or jam. By the time the (...idiot) waiter brought the butter/jam I asked for....Quote: "Here are 2 ...if you need more let me know"....as if begging for a tip (If this were the USA he would have brought a plate of butters and jams instead of 2) the toast was limp/cold and not edible! I dont understand this city. This place should be out of business. The food is being "hidden" under tonnes and tonnes of (fresh) garlic. Are the pancakes and waffles covered in it as well????? After coming to terms with this bad experience I realized they are in the middle class ghetto near Yonge/Eglinton where you can feed idiots anything! I have not found an acceptable restaurant within 4 blocks north/south/east or west of Yonge/Eglinton. My advice: Avoid the whole area. If you want REALLY bad food in this area try the worst restaurant in Canada-"THE PICKEL BARREL"!
Funny. Moe clearly doesn't like garlic and certainly don't read very well. If they are THAT cheap with their jam and butter as implied, they probably would be too cheap to COVER your food in garlic. On the other hand, maybe because he was such a princess they didn't mind spending the extra penny to piss him off. For someone that picky, you have to wonder why they went to an all day breakfast to begin with.
Moe must be an 'out-of-towner' that got lost on his way to the local watering hole for more brewskie Canadiana and I don't mean the good micro brewery stuff either, eh hoser? Sounds like Moe's kind of breakfast is more on par with Denny's or Arby's!! haha
You guys need to update this post...Meggie's is gone now.
