Massimo's Pizza & Pasta
This old-school pizza parlour recently got a makeover making this spot that much cozier. No nonsense slices never disappoint and tasty made-to-order panzerotti's are worth the wait.

juiciest pizza slices!
I've been going to Massimo's every week for over 20 years. My son loved spending time at Massimo's on Saturday afternoon's helping Tony & Vince...and now with the Makeover - it's just great! The best pizza in North America!
I had a religious experience with a slice of Massimo's Margherita last night.
Going to this place for 20++ years and the odor of fresh pizza wafts to greet you from a block away. . .its the best, the crust is always perfect and the toppings are just right!
The sandwiches suck as did the pasta, will give it anothe try but they have always been a one trick pony with microwaves dingin for the veal or meatball or pasta dishes.
The owners have not been there in years entrusting the secret recipes to a handful of phillipino cooks while the owners rest on well deserved pizza laurels.
I don't know I went buy on Saturday afternoon and it was closed. Did not look like it was in business anymore. I could be wrong but that was my impression.
It's has been closed since Feb. 27th by the City.
From the city's dinesafe website:
CONDITION(S) FOR CLOSURE: Operator fail to prevent a rodent infestation
Check it out here:

While they were closed they said it was to fix "ventilation issues" - one of the many problems that caused them to be shut down.
Now that they're back up again, they're hiding the part of the sign that says they were closed.
The Place has been Torched!
What happened!?
It definitely burned down somehow. Bad luck?
This place appears to have gone out a few weeks ago.
I passed by a few weeks ago, a few days after it happened... I had stopped the day before and noticed that the place looked like a pretty bad fire had erupted, but not bad enough to make the upstairs tenant move out... I asked the folks who were digging through debris, and trashing the moldy pizza that was still in the rack... looks like there's not much hope of rebuilding... a tragedy really, since there's nothing like a good slice of Massimo's at 2am.
Jewish/Italian lightning.
Vito is one of the partners, biz was tough, insur was easy, POOF!!!
..too bad. the margherita was the best pizza i ever had in this city. juicy, saucy, tangy... i was planning on getting some tonight and came across these posts. any sign of rebuilding?
Kitchen fire by a negligent employee. Unfortunately landlord who lived above the restaurant has been spooked and does not want us there anymore. But don't fret..... Good news we will be re- opening mid September at 1130 Queen St W, a few stores down from the Drake Hotel. Original owner's son will be operating it! Please come by and visit, can't you just smell the Margherita slice in the air????
The warming oven was what set Massimo's apart from the rest. After they put in the heat lamp, it wasn't the same anymore. I hope they bring it back at the new location.
Massimo's please come back. The Margarita is officially my favourite slice in town. Or sell me the secret recipe.
They moved to Queen and Dovercourt? Is this true?
Yes. It's true. They're now open!

They're also opening a location at College and Borden.
The new store is now open on College Street. We ordered a pizza two nights ago and I have never been so disappointed and felt so ripped off. We ordered an 18 inch with pepperoni, mushrooms and onions. When the pizza was delivered you could hold the whole pizza box with two fingers. It was that light weight. We were astonished when we opened the box. There was maybe 50 grams of cheese on the entire thing with a micro thin crust, only six pieces of mushrooms on the entire thing. It was worse than the cheapest no-name frozen pizza. I called to ask if Massimo’s had been sold or is under new management and was told no but they have lowered their prices and are making a thinner crust pizza now. A GREAT THING IS NOW CRAP FOR PROFIT !
Hey Michael,
You are right!! We ordered last night and it was like we ordered from a totally different place. They are giving you a fraction of the quality they used to. This is really too bad as it used to be the best pizza around.
Unfortunately we will never order again.
I had a different experience. I ordered from the Queen St location last week and it was excellent. I'm going to swing by the new College St location today, I really miss them being on College.
