Loire TorontoLoire takes over the space formerly home to Olive & Lemon with what the owners are calling "casual gourmet" fare with influences from their times spent in France, Italy, Switzerland and the Caribbean.

I tried this place because it graced your list at the #5 spot. The experience overall was mediocre at best. Appetizers were good, mains were a bit of a bore. Portions were all way too small. Desserts were good but too expensive- and of course too small!

Service was the real problem. I thni in total there were 3 people working the floor. The head waiter was mixing drinks, the busboy was taking orders, overall a mess. Had to wrangle a staff member whenever anything was needed- nothing was brought or taken away without asking.

I won't be going back. Conversly, Waif's and Wealthy Rodeo Personnel will love it.

I have always had great service at Loire - warm and attentive, and quite often the chef comes out and brings a free dish. Nice touch. The food is perfectly balanced with clean, pure tastes. Presentation is artful without being pretentious. The portion sizes may initially look small, but I find I'm perfectly full when I'm finished. I'd say the portions are 'European' rather than small. Would highly recommend this restaurant if you're looking for a place that's classy and casual at the same time.

Loire is one of the restaurants on Harbord Street that drew us choose our neighborhood to live in. Before we ever ate there, it seemed like a restaurant I would really enjoy with great food, wine, service, and atmosphere but an unpretentious attitude (what my husband would call a “good vibe”). After two visits now I can say it competes with our favorite restaurants from New York on all of these fronts. Both times we’ve been there the employees have been knowledgeable and attentive, and everything we ate was presented beautifully. In the summer the terrace is fantastic.

Prices are pretty comparable to similar restaurants here and in New York. The dining room is small, which adds to the cozy feel but could make it difficult to get in when the patio, which doubles the size of the restaurant, is not open. The food is fantastically fresh and flavorful and adjusted to use local and seasonal ingredients. I’d definitely recommend the restaurant to anyone.

My friends and I had dinner last night at Loire, it was our first time in this restaurant and were not sure what to expect. WE LOVED IT, it's one of the best restaurant I've been in a while and I eat out very often. The service throughout the evening was outstanding, the recommendations on food and wine were such a good choice. Our server was so kind and professional, he made us feel very relax and enjoy our evening. The food was so well presented and so tasty, we made changes on the dishes cause of dietary reasons, it was not a problem at all, the kitchen was very please to accommodate our needs. Lots of time in different restaurants I've been you know when you ask for a change on the menu that the kitchen doesn't like to do that, here it's very different you can really feel the happiness of the staff and their willingness to accommodate their customers. I highly recommend Loire restaurant to everybody, we'll be back for sure.
