The LocalThe Local is an art-friendly pub on Roncesvalles that has lots of beers on tap, chili, burgers, salads and perogies. There's also a great back patio.

Disclosure: I met my girlfriend in this bar, so, I'm a little biased! ... The Local is only pub in Toronto I'd classify as "truly fun". Awesome staff, and The Elvis Bossanova nights alone are a five star.. also GREAT food.

Indeed the best pub. The Local is warm and cozy with great food, awesome music and a wide variety of beers on tap.

When so many places can be cold and service is short as servers often expect drunk unruliness, this place treats you like a customer not just a 19yo on their first time out in Toronto yelling for another shot. This place is about socializing and enjoying the finer things in life like good friends and cold beers, rather than just getting pissed.

2 thumbs up!

Pretty good place. A whack of Ontario beers on tap (I wouldn't mind the odd quality foreign choice, but what the hey), and a funky atmosphere, which could use some cosier furniture. Best is the burger with excellent fries, but they upped the price to something like $13 or $14 which is a little steep. Other food choices are also at least ok. Live good offbeat music. Very good staff are friendly and prompt.

If this place is a good pub, the definition of pubs is 'good beers, but not care for food'.
I guess at least their beer selection is good, but their staple irish stew is NOT good!
It said on the menu that it's cooked for 6 hours, but the meat was tough and vegetables were almost raw... How can they serve this everyday....??
Also, don't go in the winter because those place is so cold, my feet were freezing. They have a door issue, it's a single door and it stays open, but they don't care enough to fix it for their customer!

The only problem with the local is that you CANNOT go for a quiet evening. There are loud bands 7 nights a week so if you're in for a quiet pint around 8pm you're shit out of luck. How that helps those of us who don't want to listen to local folk singers every time we have an hour to get out of the house for one solitary pint, I have no idea.
