That above comment and following review is completely biased and ridiculous.

The review by "Foodhogger" seems really biased as said above. Tons of restaurants have different prices for eat in versus take out what rock have you been hiding under to be surprised? I just tried this place for the first time and I quite Liked it. Went there with a group of four and we all got the steak. It was rosemary seasoned I believe and very appetizing. The frites were fine too, though the mayo could have been a bit more exciting. Hilarious how foodhogger thinks that this restaurant is overpriced. The set menu which includes an appetizer, main course AND dessert is around 24 bucks. You'd be hard pressed to find prices like that at a sports bar! I guess he's comparing prices to Mcdonalds! Sorry that was so long I just don't want people to get the wrong impression of this place based on one reviewer who seems to have something against French cuisine.

I don't disagree with all the things that Foodhogger said on his blog. "24 bucks" is just what is on the menu, it really comes to 30 dollars with tax and tips. I was not impressed with their French onion soup which was blend in taste and lack of effort in preparing it, the cheese were stuck on the bottom of the soup plate they served it in. Ceasar salad was ok at best. But honestly fries? really they don't offer any other choices other than fries on the main dish? but I do like the salmon and the chicken they serve on the prix fixe menu . Deserts are again ok at best. The thing that really pissed me off was that we were told that we are only allowed to order from the prix fixe menu because we reserved 20 seats for dinner. Over all, not too impressed with 30 bucks sent. I recommend Marcel just a few streets down if you like French restaurants.

Went to Jules Bistro yesterday for lunch and was quite disappointed. They do have a good atmosphere and nice decor but when it comes to service and food it was sub par. I went with my friends and we all got the prix fixe. The french onion soup tasted bland, it wasn't even baked and there was barely any cheese. The main course was okay but the fries really do taste like McDonald's fries. The creme brulee was too burnt on the top, and it tasted like it had been sitting in the fridge for a while. For the price, I expected the food to be much better. Also, there was only one server for the entire place so service was slow. I will not recommend this restaurant or eat there ever again.

the bechamel on the croque monsieur is to die for, the burger is thoughtful and super delicious (they carve out the bread from the bun to reduce "filler" and the mayo is awesome), crepes are super.

definitely a gem in a city full of totally mediocre or otherwise disappointing establishments/food.

I stopped by this restaurant with my wife just by chance as it was recommended to her. This restaurant has the right ambiance. Dilan, the server/bartender/manager greeted us with a smile. Very friendly. Since we had no reservation we were seated by the bar in the kitchen area. Not only were we able to interact with the staff (which I loved) but Adrian (acting chef for the night) and sous chef John gave the wife and I samples of the food that they were preparing. We ordered fixed menu which was a good value. The french onion soup, was different than the norm, but very tasty. I ordered the salmon which was crispy on the outside, and soft, flaky and juicy inside. I love the fact you can have half frites and half salad along with your meal. Everything was perfect and I will recommend this jewel in Toronto to everyone I know.
