Jack Astors Yonge DundasJack Astor's at Yonge and Dundas is one of the more popular locations for this mega-chain thanks to it's sweet rooftop patio overlooking Yonge-Dundas square and the Eaton Centre.

I got BANNED from here. I wore contact lenses, they refused me entry. I posted a YouTube video about my experience there, took it down once the general manager finally came in contact and was really cool. The general manager is a really cool guy, unfortunately the assistant manager, and tall security guard there are rather annoying apparently.
Being BANNED from a "family restuarant" or whatever you want to call them is annoying. I've been there TONS of time with my girlfriend and friends, and find it an injustice that they can BAN me, when THEY made the mistake of refusing me entry due to me wearing contact lenses. They accused me of being "on something" ... when I wasn't. So maybe I was happy and the security was sad and accused me of being on drugs. Who knows. Unfair treatment.

If you want to support a place where they can BAN someone who is basically a nerd and intellectual guy who is 115 pounds and could probably use some of their wings to bulk up, then keep going there, I dare you.

Jacks Yonge and Dundas is the larger location of this popular canadian chain restaurent! As a Jacks enthusiast I must admit that I love every experience equally. The service is almost always great (with the exception of a few; which I am prepared to overlook) and the food is fantastic: yet fantastically well priced. Which is something you don't come across every day. Albeit a great place, I hold a few reservations about the chain, in general, and some location specific. For one, drinks are very pricy! I have overlooked Jacks when planning a "drinks only" outing, seeing as though better savings could be had somewhere else. That's all really. The Dundas location itself it very busy and sees the bulk of Toronto' traffic; which can be a little uncomfortable once you're elbow to elbow with another guest. In addition, this locations "cocktail loung" is a 19+ area that is inaccessible to guests under that age: which is great for avoiding underage drinking but bad, if you have to "wait - list" a poor guy and his date who are simply trying to grab a meal and head to the theatre down the street. Other than that, it's great - and I, for one, recommend it!

Reasonable food but who in the world came up with the idea to turn up the music that loud? Even the waitress had to ask three times what we would like to order and we couldn't understand a word she said. Tells me something about the management style they have; if I was a waitress I would speak up. Maybe they can hear her.

I will never go back there specifically after I've asked the waitress to turn the music down and she looked at me like I was crazy or she couldn't understand me.
