Il FornelloIl Fornello now has nine restaurants in the Toronto area. Of them, the Danforth is arguably the best of the bunch, and usually bustling. Weekdays, they offer a buffet lunch and the rest of the time it's standard, but well-executed Italian fare (including many ingredients sourced locally) like calzones, pizza and gluten free pasta.

So , recently I went to this restaurant with business colleague. I had arrived a bit later then expected but he was waiting at the bar . We got a table and sat down . We had been sitting for about five minutes ans this waitress barks at us about drinks. It was intrusive and just rude . We ask for a wine list and she stands there and says "so " . We picked one and she took off . IT was funny the place was empty it was a Sunday night at the Young and St Clair location. She comes back a couple of mins later with the wine and doesn't pour to taste , she pours it and barks about what we want again . At this point she was rude and getting worse by the moment . We order just because after being there for a half hour and my friend sitting at the bar waiting decided s to tell us the kitchen closes at nine. She couldn't politely tell us when we sat down . Anyways , we order the food it comes and we dont hear from her until the bill . Which we had to ask for three times. She brings it and we paid and asked her to make change . She comes back with change and the money for the bill , not paying attention we took it back . She then like five minutes later comes back and gets just disrespectful and tells us she didn't take the money for the bill. At this point we didn't argue and just gave the money and left . While we were packing up she stared us down . For an older women and for a chain restaurant like that I would have expected better service or for her just to find another place . I couldn't believe the level of service and her bad attitude. If you dont want to work then dont work but dont take it out on customers. The food was fine . Nothing special .

just got back from lunch at il Fornello - $10 for a great lasagna and salad and my bud had a pizza with figs that rocked - ditto jenny on Libretto - too trendy for me and food below par. my only issue with fornello is families with kids, so we go after 8 when I'm in town
quite the rant from Felicia - but since when is Danforth at Yonge and St. Clair
never had problems on the Danforth - fornello and allen's 2 best spots IMO
