Gyubee
Gyubee is an all you can eat (AYCE) Japanese-style BBQ restaurant found in an anonymous-looking building in Markham. It's home to good quality meat you cook yourself over an open grill.
Inside the restaurant is surprisingly spacious. Dinner prices start at $29.99 on weekdays - a bit steep but the quality ingredients make it good value.
A popular item here is the kalbi boneless short rib but I actually prefer the beef brisket. It's rich and buttery - I mix it with their house sauce and am practically in meat heaven.
Seafood options include shrimp as well as squid.
Don't feel like cooking? There are also ready-to-eat items like cold tofu that are a refreshing change from the grilled meats.
The bibimbap is also good here. The carbs from the rice balance out the protein-heavy meal.
To drink I tried the refreshing Lychee Mojito (+$3.50) and Ume Pineapple (+$3.50) which is a pineapple drink mixed with plum wine. I'd order both again.
Make sure to leave room for dessert. The crème brulee here is rich, smooth, and creamy as expected.
