Gu-Mi Restaurant

Gu-Mi RestaurantGu-Mi is a Korean/Japanese restaurant that features a menu combining the best standard fare from both cuisines. Decorated more like a Japanese restaurant with wooden booths and room separators, this Scarborough favourite is a nice option when you want unexpectedly fresh sushi and tempura alongside your dolsot bi bim bap.

Love this restaurant! So happy to see it here on BlogTO. For me this restaurant is legendary. Used to be more Korean businesses along this stretch of Lawrence but many Koreans have moved north. Anyway - wonderful staff, great soups and stews esp. their Kimchi Chigae! Extremely affordable.

Just went there yesterday for a family dinner. The place looks extremely tired and rundown, e.g fake wood grain is peeling off the walls, the menus are dog-eared and extensively marked in handwriting, the tables aren't clean. Which would be excusable if the food were better, but it's not. Miso soup was way too salty, the sushi slapdash, and the Korean food worse than anything you can get in Koreatown on Bloor. The place needs new management, pronto. Avoid.

FYI, Gu-Mi doesn't exist at this location anymore (not sure if it's moved somewhere else or not).
