Esther's Soup Kitchen

Posted by Staff / Listed on March 7, 2010 / review policy

Esther's Soup KitchenEsther's Soup Kitchen is hidden in the mid-70s doldrums of the Cumberland Terrace Mall. This gem, features at least seven soups a day, two of them vegan, all cooked without dairy. The mulligatawny has a clean, sweet and sour taste up front that gives way to a peppery hotness - a lot going on in just one bowl of soup.

Great place! They let you combine any 2 soups together into one, which makes the selections even better. Once I combined a Potato/Carrot and Lentil Soup together, it was fantastic.
I hope they will still be around once they put condos on this site, they are a true staple of the Yonge/Bloor area!

I've admired Esther's for years and have been a loyal client. However, I have noticed that with all the physical changes that took place, the quality of the soup has suffered. The bread is stale, if they have any when I go down. The other day I found what appeared to be a piece of metal in the soup. Such a shame because it was quite delicious and friendly at one time.

Disappointed ;-(
