The Bloor Street Diner

Bloor Street DinerDon't let Bloor Street Diner's swank more-wine-bar-than-diner ambiance fool you; it can run with the big boys when it comes to good homestyle cookin'. Diner staples like apple grilled cheese with the perfect melty/crunchy balance, and delicate Benedicts are juxtaposed against lobster ravioli and gourmet wraps. Even if you're not a ketchup fan, you might indulge a little. The grilled cheese comes with a personal mini bottle.

Horrible service and mediocre food in the dining room and bar area. This place used to be good but not anymore. I go back once in a while to see if the food and staff attitude have improved but seems as if the place keeps getting worse every time. Meals are either undercooked or burned. The kitchen obviously does not care what it sends out if it feels comfortable enough putting completely charred food on a plate. Am assuming the people who bring the food to the table notice the food is obviously inedible when they bring it over but you have to speak up right away or they run off pretending not to hear you when you call out, "Please send this back..." The people who seat patrons can be snarky and some of the serving staff really couldn't care less. However, I do recommend the cafe/takeout area outside the restaurant when you need a quick bite or snack. Decent food and nice people behind the counter.
