Bier Markt
The Bier Markt has two locations: the original on the Esplanade and the newer one at King West and Portland. In general, the Bier Markt is best suited for a quick afternoon foray than an evening out. After 9pm this place turns into the Brunny for the Bay Street set. However, you can't discount it entirely because where else in this city can you find a bottle of Hoegaarden Gran Cru? On a Friday afternoon, don't even think about getting a table on the patio without a lengthy wait.

As a restaurant I would have to say that both locations fall short on both food and service. The recent menu expansion into game items is both over priced, and under portioned.
The food service was lacking as well, in my last visit to the king west location we waited over an hour from order to delivery of our food, and without bread or anything to nibble on, patience at our table was wearing thin.
Overall, the bar section can coast on the excellent selection of beers, but if you are looking for a dinner, this is one of the worst choices in the city for the price range.
