Against the GrainAgainst the Grain Urban Tavern is the new restaurant that just opened in the Corus building near Queens Quay and Jarvis. This relatively undiscovered Harbourfront spot has a killer patio, with fire pits and lounge seating; and the menu features plenty of snack food (shrimp tacos, vegetable tempura, mussels) as well as larger plates. They also have big wines by the glass, lots of beer on tap and $3 Caesars during weekend brunch.

Agree that it's a great view and chic patio. Go for that, and order beer. Don't do anything else if you have food aspirations. The menu is bland upscale pub food. The food is prepared poorly. The service is the worst.

Patio is large and has a great view. The staff seem to be genuinely friendly and eager to please. However, it goes downhill from there. Service was dreadful as the food and drinks took forever...and ever. White wine was like warm p*ss. Food was cold and bland. Plus it drove me crazy that management forces the patio wait staff to wear black poly uniforms in the 30+ scorching heat. LONG SLEEVES for the guys and PANTY HOSE for the gals. Incredibly cruel.
Finally, they have really irritating music piped up from beneath the patio.
Perhaps just some growing pains that will soon be worked out. In the meantime maybe just order beer and hope for the best.
