The Toronto Port Lands is located in an area south of the Lakeshore between Cherry and Leslie Streets. Historically, it has been home to industrial and public works industries, storage depots and rowing clubs. The land is highly contaminated, making it ill suited for residential use; but changes are a foot to revitalize the area. A new T&T Supermarket now draws downtown grocery shoppers and east-enders on a lunch break. FILMPORT, a widely anticipated development in the area, is nearing completion and will bring more than 200,000 square feet of production facilities and North America's largest purpose-built sound stage.
