Bixi reported to have hit 1000 subscriptions

Yvonne Bambrick, Director of Communications & Events for the Toronto Cyclists Union tweeted earlier tonight that Bixi Toronto has hit its goal of 1000 subscriptions ahead of its November deadline. That means the bike sharing program will be a go come spring 2011.

The final 100 subscriptions were bought by AutoShare, who also announced the purchase via Twitter this evening.

The first phase of the program will incorporate 1,000 bikes at 80 docking stations. The station locations have yet to be announced.
