TTC opens Sheppard LRT community office
The perhaps masochistic folks at the TTC and Metrolinx have opened a community liaison office to connect with the public during the construction of the Sheppard Avenue light rail line.
TTC officials claim Sheppard businesses won't suffer the same plight as during the building of the St. Clair Ave. streetcar right-of-way. Nevertheless, protesters gathered outside the new office carrying "subway not streetcar" and "Toronto deserves better" signs.
The $950 million project is being funded by the city, the province and the federal government, and it is expected to be up and running in 2014. In the meantime, the new community liaison office is open Mondays through Wednesdays. Go easy.
