TIFF unveils 2010 documentary film lineup


The Toronto International Film Festival has released its initial list of documentary films for the 2010 festival, and we documentary hounds are salivating.

The lineup features a 3-D doc by Werner Herzog, new film by Oscar winner Errol Morris, a film on Bruce Springsteen's creative process and a documentary about an Indian feminist group.

The gala doc is Thom Zimny's "The Promise: The Making of Darkness on the Edge of Town," which follows Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band as they make their fourth album. Werner Herzog's "Cave of Forgotten Dreams" is showcasing as part of the Reel to Reel lineup. Herzog uses 3-D technology to explore Chauvet caves of southern France, going back over 30,000 years.

"Tabloid," by Errol Morris, director of "The Thin Blue Line" and "The Fog of War" tells the story of a former Miss Wyoming as she makes headlines over two decades. And "Pink Saris" by Kim Longinotto, follows the leader of the so-called Pink Gang in Uttar Pradesh, India, which combats violence against women.
