Casa AcoreanaCasa Acoreana is a long time Kensington Market fave even if few people know its name. Often referred to as the place at the corner of Baldwin and Augusta, or Nuts Make the World Go Round this small, packed shop is filled with fresh bulk food. Best is the rows upon rows of spices, but there's also plenty of nuts, chocolates, tea, coffee and candy.

Was really excited to go here because of this article... big disappointment. They had a really big selection of coffee beans but not enough of the other things you would head to a bulk store for... nuts, dried fruit (I think I only saw three kinds!), rice, didn't see a single pasta... granted, it's a teenie little place but just not worth the visit. Additionally, two of the products I bought (almonds, red lentils) were contaminated with other products. Not cool.

I've been going to this store for about three years, and recently when the younger guys took over the place has really cleaned up and most of the stuff is a lot fresher. There is a lot of nuts and dried fruit, spices, candy, tons of candy, and fresh roasted coffee. If there is something you need and you don't see it, just ask and one of the guys will tromp downstairs and bring up that hard to find spice you've been looking all over for. I like the globes on the ceiling and the informal chit chat that breaks out between customers.

They do need to have more specialty candy as opposed to humbugs and cherry twists for grandma, if they had pop rocks I would give them 5 stars, but they don't so I only give them 4.

Why don't you ask fat cat Ozzy why the place has gone to shit? It is because he is a pig and his two brothers John and Victor left because they were sick of their father and brother Ozzie's bullshit.
