Arts Etobicoke Gallery

It may be a small place, but the Arts Etobicoke Gallery is the home to big things. Doubling as the home offices for Arts Etobicoke -- a member supported, volunteer organization in Etobicoke that aims to engage all people in West Toronto with the arts and artists in their own community -- the gallery also showcases work by local artists throughout the year.
Established in December 2005 and nestled in the Dundas West neighbourhood just outside Islington station, the gallery includes enough room for traditional and interactive art installations and a small performance space.
Prior exhibitions have included This Is My Neighbourhood, a joint program of Arts Etobicoke, Toronto District School Board and the Art Gallery of Ontario showcasing student art, and Exploring Creativity in Depth, a collaboration with the Milkweed Collective.

Open to students in Grade 9 through 12 within the Toronto District School Board and the Toronto Catholic District School Board, the Student Art Show is designed to promote and encourage student participation and excellence in the broad spectrum of the arts.
We need volunteers for the Student Art Show in the following areas:
Artwork intake: April 29th 4pm-6pm
This involves assisting the Program Coordinator with the intake of the artwork on Wednesday April 29th @ the Sherway Gardens boardroom. Artwork will be categorized according to school and placed with identification labels for easy identification once the pieces are installed. Volunteers will be asked to assist with greeting the teachers and students, handing out artwork receipts & critique/opening reception invitations, and asking teachers to verify the show catalogue information using a proof copy.
Show Installation: May 1st 3pm-8pm
The show will be installed on Friday May 1 from 3pm - 8pm in the Sherway Gardens Centre square. Volunteers will be asked to assist with moving the artwork with the assistance of a dolly to the centre square, assist with hanging artwork & displaying labels, arrange sculptural work in glass display cases provided by Sherway and setting up tables and promotional material.
I also visited Art In Park and I wanted to share it with you. Even though its a very charming event, I am surprised that it didn't get much coverage.
Here's a nice article about it : http://www.zindadil.com/2010/08/a-breath-of-fresh-air/
