I can't say I've had a bad experience here yet. But nothing great either. Fair size and it normally is not very packed which is a nice thing. It has everything you could need really, but I'm guessing not some of the perks of the big chains (multiple locations, more organized classes). The gym does offer various classes throughout the month, but I would have liked to see weekly classes at a set time, as opposed to once or twice a month classes. Haven't taken any yet as a result.

Clean facilities , nice looking, and very nice changing rooms. Decent set of workout equipment, some more dated than others. TV's on mute in the cardio room, and normally there's enough Ellipticals and Treadmills free. Haven't seen them all taken at the same time yet. Lots of bikes as well.

The upstairs has the workout room for lifting (and a similar sized room for working on legs).

If you're a woman- this gym will probably be great for you. They have a huge womens area (which I barely noticed until I realized it wasn't a mirror on the wall, but a window).

Also it's a very LGBT friendly gym.

Last thing... I didn't like their sales approach, it felt very sales-like and unwelcoming. They offer you 'towel service' for $10 a month extra, and when you decline they say 'Have it for free'. Ha... that's because everyone gets it for free. They just get some to pay a wasted monthly $10. Kind of a bad approach to take with your clients.

Overall it's a yes for me. It will get you in shape and looking good if you want it to. Way cheaper than Extreme too. (seems like under $500 for the year.).

Great Gymn very clean & Friendly with state of the Equipment. this is my second year now & i m loving it, before i had Memberships from all these Gymn Etc's Bally's, Gold Gymn, YMCA Good-Life & Extreme fitness they were Horrible over Crowded & Rude Staffs every where that Accopied most of the Equipment everyday for training they Clients plus after done using those Equipment all over the floors without cleaning or pick them up in the Area where suppose to be put back or belong, beside you have to deal with every day whenever Busy Hours with Annoying Rude People, on top of over Price & Total Rips off. Until i came across a year ago and finally was introduce from my close friend about "Yonge Street Fitness Club" Try them out and now i m much more Happier & still Loving it .. :)

I cannot recommend this gym enough. From the minute I joined, I have NOTHING bad to say about it. I joined because I got a week's free trial. I didn't feel awkward or under obligation to join, which was refreshing after bad experiences with Goodlife (and what I felt was horrible customer service there). I have gotten to know several staff members, who I feel make a real effort to get to know members there. The hours are great, open very early on weekdays until 12 am, which is optimal for my work schedule. There is never a wait for equipment, there is plenty & it is well maintained. They also offer a variety of classes, although I haven't gotten around to taking any yet. They also feature personal trainers. I have had a session, I do not regularly have these, but I have not yet met a staff member that I did not like at this location.

The price is also right, and not a complete nightmare to figure out or get out of. The owner is approachable, and also seems to know many of the members.

This gym is 100% in my top 10 places in Toronto. I also love that it is local- I find very little "pressure," from others in terms of fitness, even among those who are professional. Other members have been very helpful in the past when I was first joining.

Even if I move elsewhere in the city, I would come to the area just for this gym.

(Very accessible from Wellesley and Bloor subways!)

Hmmm. Dorina's review is copypasta from Yelp:

I have been going to this gym for the past month and it is an ok gym. But today I believe somthing sketchy happened, the doors are closed and memberships were redirected to another gym close to the lake, I believe this should not be legal, specially since the members got no notice about this.

TOTAL FRAUD! I am a member and went yesterday nothing was mentioned by the staff or a written notice! I will not be going to a gym by the lake when I live midtown! I called AMEX and they are reversing this months fee which they charged 2 days ago, knowing full well they were going to pull this stunt in the middle of the night!

I've been a member there for a while and I got the same charge too. The gym they're telling us to go to is 8 blocks away which is ludicrous and whats most annoying is that we got zero notice! A couple of my friends went to the Hard Candy Fitness down the street at Yonge and Gerrard to workout, they're offering a promo just for YSF members and the place is really nice- worth checking out in the meantime. I called Wynn and as usual they weren't able to help me answer any of my questions about cancelling or refunds and it was super frustrating.

I called Wynn and they told me if I wanted to cancel to email Vince -

Yup. YSFC is now deadpool.

I was a member at Yonge Street Fitness Club.
Before they closed without notice, I had checked out Hard Candy Fitness which is just down the street. I had considered switching gyms and now with the promotion HCF is offering for YSF members I will definitely get a membership there!
Hard Candy Fitness has a fun and energetic atmosphere! There's a huge cycling studio and dancing studio.
I recommend checking it out!

I did not like what you did, closing the
Gym without informing your customers is not appropriate. Please cancel my membership and make sure no bank withdrawal will be made on my bank account.

Sorry to hear. Our mission at Physiomed Yonge Bloor is: "Continually improve the health of everyone in our community so they may enjoy the activities of daily living".

That includes former members of Yonge Street Fitness.

So, if any member would like a free clinical conditioning session, please drop by here before the end of the year. (Physiomed Yonge Bloor, one block north of Yonge Street Fitness, 4 Charles St. E, suite 200). Mention you were a member at YSF, and we'll throw in a complete health consultation.

To top it off, most of our services are covered by your employee benefits, so you might try a registered massage, ask about orthotics, compression socks, Chiro, Physio, Naturopath BEFORE the end of this year.

I had paid for my membership upfront until July 2014. Please follow the chain of emails between myself and Vince @ Wynn fitness.

Hi Nikhil,

I hope this email reached you well.

Wynn Fitness has not acquired memberships that were paid in full. We are accommodating your membership and allowing access to our facility. Although our membership rates are higher, we will be honoring your rate from Yonge Street Fitness. We have new and futuristic equipment, fantastic Group Fitness classes, a clean and well maintained facility, with exceptional customer service. Also, we’ve just added the first Canadian retail outlet for Starbucks and we would like to invite you in for a complimentary beverage. I am hoping to receive contact information for Roy or Yonge Street Fitness. Once I have received their info, I will let you know. I encourage you to come in and have a tour of the facility. I look forward to hearing from you and have a great day.

Hi Vince

Hope this email finds you well.

I am reaching out to you as an ex member of Yonge Street Fitness Center. Unfortunately the location and hours for Wynn Fitness is not convenient to my situation (Living by Yonge and College, I tend to work from 8-8, which would not give me enough time to come over to your centre for an exercise). Having paid for my membership in full, till July 15, 2014 – please advise me on next steps for refund of balance owing.

Awaiting your thoughts on the same.

Someone above has mentioned a promotional offer from Hard Candy for YSFC members. Can you please elaborate as to the offer and is it worth it? Is the price similar? -Thx.
Vanessa / January 9, 2014 at 09:28 pm
I was shocked to find out the gym closed.. It closed without notice. No one reached out saying it was closed or that my membership would be transferred to another gym - I actually didn't know it was transferred until reading the reviews. I got charged Dec 31 for a gym fee.. Doubt I'll ever see my money back.. I need a gym so I joined Goodlife... its actually better and cheaper than YSFC

Does anyone know Lynn; the Yoga Instructor and where she is now? She was an Amazeballs Yoga teacher!
