Quad Spin

Posted by Staff / Posted on July 8, 2010

Quad SpinQuad Spin on King West is one of three Quad studios. This central location is as swanky and hip as its King West surroundings. Themed music spins keep it fun (we're having fun, right?). Quad also provides personalized weight management training.

Best for: social butterflies, the before/after work crowd

Soundtrack: live drummer, Michael Jackson theme spins

Wow !! I can top that...my dog used to teach at Quad and was paid $100k per class; not only that but the dog would also shout racial epithets over the music!! Get real people, just because it's on the internet it doesn't mean it's true. I invite everyone to check out all of these places for themselves rather that relying on dubious testimonials.
Even More Truthful SOB / July 18, 2010 at 12:40 am
I agree that some of the above testimonials are stretching the truth. Quad actually has great energy and ambiance, and it's always fun to go to a place with 40+ riders. The energy is awesome. That being said though, they do have health issues regarding ventilation. A close friend of mine once passed out there, and afterward I discovered that he wasn't the first. Better air circulation needs to be addressed. Also, the owners are smokers which kinda makes me scratch my head because they certainly don't practice what they preach. Lastly, Martin looks like a retard in his cycling outfit... dude... loose the belly before putting that stuff on.

Wow. This is sounding more like sour grapes. Shouldn't this be about the actual spin class?? What the owners do with their lives (what they eat, smoke or pray to-etc) has no bearing on the quality of the class/club. I've always had a great workout at Quad. The instructors are great, a good sound system, flexible schedule and its unpretentious. Regarding the "loose the belly" remark: WTF? You are nasty. Look around most gyms you'll find that most folks got 'em. Surely there is a better forum for you to air this sorta judgement...

Sadly, these comments are correct. I've always been okay with the cockroaches and the fact that Micheline sometimes smells like pot, but that was when the classes were good. I've been going to Quad since 2003- back when it was in it's heyday. That place was the BEST place to spin in Toronto. Lately, it's just been full of drama and the classes aren't what they once were. I feel like just a number there now and everything feels like a cash grab. I miss the old Quad.

Well, now, cant say I get all that close to the owners. When I need that sort of nurturing I usually call my Mom. I dont often make it to Tuesday spin but when I do she always seems warm, cordial, hospitable. I expect the same from the proprietors of all the gyms, restaurants, bars, photocopy centres, whathaveyou, that I give my business to. I've never noticed a reek. BUT, I must say, your comment, very much, reeks of vendetta. Whatever. Not sure how you see your comments helpful to anyone trying to scope out a good spin spot?? Now, as far as cockroaches go: WELCOME TO TORONTO!! We have always been infested with these buggers. Clearly you are one of those "came from a small town" people. Get used to it. Even your "hip downtown condo" abode is infested. Everyplace is sprayed for these critters. Maybe its time you take a good look at the walls of your fave resto in town. Dim lighting exists for more then just romanticism. Got to love the mystery CRUNCH! Loosen up! FANTASTIC NYC has some charming rats you really aught to meet... Welcome to the big city!( you cant really be that ignorant of this, can you?)

are you saying we as in your are the owners of the gym? weird...all in all it is quite sad to see what has become of the old QUAD. wouldn't go back :(

I've been going to Quad for a few years now (both King st and East locations) and have always found the classes to be great. Instructors are attentive, energizing and encouraging... of course, if you're going to a class during it's peak hours and is PACKED, it's may not as attentive compare to a 12 noon class during lunch or on the weekend... but that's anywhere... whether it be spin or yoga classes.

Quad is an amazing place to spin. The teachers are all incredibly friendly, consistent and full of energy. The owner takes the time to say hi to each individual spinner and knows almost everyone by name. Something I am sure you wont find in most places in Toronto. It's a laid back and fun community of people and I truly look forward to going to every class. Like anything, try it for your self and make your own judgement.

I'm keeping an open mind here, but since the place is suppose to advocate health. Smoking and cockroaches would be inconsistent with that theme. I'm going there to try it for the first time, but if I notice either of those things, I'm never coming back.

I think it'a great place, good music and inspiring teachers. I've tried a few different places over the years but had to come back to Quad. In the 10yrs I've been there, I have never seen either type of roach. Honestly, I can understand if the reviewer seeks improvement, but some of the comments are overtly mean spirited. What you or the teachers/owners do in their private time is nobody's business. Granted the air flow could be improved upon.

WOW! people please get a grip and find something better to do with your viciousness.Quad rocks! Go and try a class and make up your own mind. Every instructor is unique, but Micheline insists on the highest standards of instruction; not just the Schwinn certification, but Quad's own too. Everyone is about form and safety and getting the best ride, whether it's to a theme spin, hip hop, Queen or the 80's. Every ride leaves you breathless but feeling amazing. I DARE you to try a class!

The Quad certification is B.S. It's just a cash grab, no validity in why it's required. Asking potential instructors to take their course, just to apply for a role, is ridiculous considering other institutions/companies provide more thorough training, continuing education and on-going research. As a spin instructor, it's important I execute the fundamentals in my style. Not be some Quad clone.

I love Quad. I go to the Leslieville location and have went to quite a few other studios in Toronto. I really enjoy each of the instructors and love the availability of classes. I have no complaints. I've never been to the King West studio as it's not convenient for me.

I'll definately be signing up for another annual membership in 2015.
