CYKL

Posted by Staff / Posted on July 8, 2010

CYKL TorontoCYKL is home to former RPM instructor Kim who branched out on her own with CYKL in February. Professionalism and hospitality are paramount here, and CYKL is the only downtown studio using Real Ryders: bikes that tilt and "turn" just like your road cruiser!

Best for: spin-virgins, serious yet uncompetitive spinners

Soundtrack: Big Shiny Tunes, live DJ spins

Amazing place to work out. RealRyder bikes. Friendly, fun, and helpful staff. My favourite spin gym in King West, although a little more expensive than the rest.

Great overview. Winter and the holidays are coming and I need something to fight the bulge.

Great advice! I tried spin classes for the first time last week, and was lucky enough to sign up during a 2-week promotion that was cheap/unlimited. Friendly staff, early & late classes, friendly attendees, quick results. Loved it.

Bought a 2-week unlimited pass to Cykl after seeing it on BlogTo and after one visit I am hooked. I was floored by the amazing staff and their willingness to help out and make you comfortable. Definitely a huge recommendation!

I've been spinning at CYKL on and off for two and a half years now. I am what you might call an absolute, total raving fan!!! As far as a cardio-vascular workout goes, you will be hard pressed to find another one that comes close to this anywhere in the city. Don't believe me? Give it a try.

The staff are some of the most welcoming and friendly I've encountered at any fitness establishment in Toronto. This place does not feel like a business; it is indeed a community. You will get to know some of the other riders as you become a regular and it's always great to catch up with them when you're there for a ride.

There is a fantastic variety of classes offered at CYKL; want to get in a high-intensity calorie burning workout that will keep you burning calories all day long? CYKL 45 is perfect for that. Looking for more of an endurance ride? CYKL 75 will have you sweating buckets and burning fat well beyond that next cheeseburger. They also have CYKL 60 and CYKL 90, not to mention a wide range of other offerings that you can register for outside of spin classes which include strength training, nutritional seminars and even weekend excursions.

As if that wasn't enough, the bikes are the best I've ridden anywhere. And I've been spinning since early 2007. The Real Ryder turns, which allows you to get an awesome ab workout alongside your cardio. Classes are structured in such a way that each one has a purpose; whether it's muscular endurance or building up your legs, this is a great way to keep in shape during the off season if you ride outside. If you don't ride outside, you will simply get into awesome shape.

All of the instructors keep the classes fun and up-beat. The bikes are well maintained and the staff really get to know you. My girlfriend and I both love this place to bits. What's great is that after only a few classes you already start to see results (you feel tighter and the pounds begin to melt away).

I tried Quad on a Groupon just to compare and well, there is simply no comparison. Quad bikes are stationary, old and not as well maintained. Quad instructors have nothing on any CYKL instructor; it just kind of sucked. I wouldn't spin at Quad again if they gave me a free month and that's the absolute truth.

If you haven't tried CYKL yet, get off your ass!! You will feel absolutely amazing. I suggest trying the first class (50% off, so it's about $11), and then moving on to the two week unlimited starter pack ($45 for two weeks of all the rides you can handle). What I tend to do is go for the month unlimited pass ($140 plus taxes) and then ride my brains out. Yes, it's pricey but the cost compares to any other spinning studio in the city and CYKL is far, far superior. I usually take breaks between my months to spread out the cost.

So what are you waiting for? Get out there!! Whether you're a seasoned rider or you've never been on a spin bike before, CYKL has something for you. You will feel welcomed. You will be challenged. Most of all though, you're going to have a total blast!!
