Impress David Suzuki, Impress Your Country, Impress Your Government

Posted by Johnny Vong / February 5, 2007

National treasure David Suzuki asks the question on his YouTube Group Page: "What would you do for the environment if you were Prime Minister?"

With his 50-city national tour well underway, Suzuki is inviting all Canadians to upload a 15-30 second clip of themselves letting the biggies in Ottawa hear what WE (if we were them) need to do about issues like reducing pollution, saving endangered species, and fighting global warming.

Here's what you need to do (as summed up from the site):

  • Start your script by saying your first name, the city you live in, and then, "If I were Prime Minister..."
  • Let us know what you'd do to protect nature. Would you ban all SUVs? Would you give a free bike to every family in Canada? Would you make polluters pay for the messes they create?
  • Upload your video to this YouTube group.
  • Test your video out to make sure it works.
  • Pat yourself on the back! Fame and glory await!

And if any BlogTo readers would like to leave a link to their vids in the comments, please do so! We'd love to see 'em.

I'm so excited - I have tickets to see Dr. Suzuki speak on Friday!

Go greener... NOW.

I would ban drive-throughs, especially for banks. They are a horrible waste. I stopped using them four years ago and I regret nothing. If you don't have enough time to go inside, you don't have enough time to stop. Also, walking is exercise which you should be doing if you're going in to buy fast-food anyway.

I'd like to see the end of the gas car entirely, but such an utopian view is unrealistic.

Airplanes are another huge problem.

If I were prime minister i would make the CBC fire Suzuki for being an activist, endorsing socialist candidates and in doing so breaking CBC's journalistic policy.

Then i would get a Toyota Prius and switch to locally grown produce.

If I were Prime Minister, I'd fire myself and hire Suzuki as PM! ;)

haha Jerrold right on.

Yeah I'm too chicken to record it for YouTube but I too would overhaul the car industry - ban gas cars! Only hybrids allowed! Hey desperate times call for extreme measures or something like that.

Yes Yes Yes! Count me in! I will help fight this evil global warming (that be you and me)
I promise to no longer use my air conditioner at home, in my car and Ill insist that everyone at work do it too, I will help ban fireworks, firewood, incense and air fresheners, I will flush every other day (floaters are good for the environment), I will stop looking at a clear blue sky and take in the fresh air and think it is good, I will accuse all skeptics of being paid by Exxon like the good Doctor Dave does, I will stop stuffing plastic bags with leaves every fall and wait for the giant diesel powered truck to come and pick them up because I am too lazy to compost all by myself, I will walk VERY slowly because riding a bike expels more CO2 than my SmartCar, I promise to stop taking my prescription chemical DRUGS and die because my blood pressure will pop my head off and I will die leaving my family grieving but the planet safer and cleaner, I promise to eat only organic supplements like all natural Whey Protein, Dymatize, BCAA Complex 5050, Branched Chain Amino Acids etc.
There is nothing more organic than bull$hit
